A schoolgirl is currently receiving medical attention after being struck down by a speeding driver while using a pedestrian crossing on the Diamond, East Bank Demerara public road.
The driver is currently in Police custody.
Based on eyewitness reports, the driver of motor car PSS 2284 and other vehicles were racing along the public road.
At the time, the schoolgirl was using the pedestrian crossing by the Junior Staff compound when she was struck down.
The teen was flung several feet in the air and landed on the road surface.
She was rushed to the hospital in a Police car.
A Police investigation is currently underway.
