Yannic Cariah produced a splendid all-round performance to lead Trinidad and Tobago Red Force to a commanding 114-run win over Guyana Harpy Eagles in the CG United Super50 Cup on Saturday at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, Trinidad.

The left-hander first blazed to an unbeaten 71 in Red Force’s 290-8 from 50 overs and then picked up career-best figures of 5-34 with his leg-spin to limit Harpy Eagles to 176 all out from 33.4 overs.

Cariah struck seven fours and two sixes in his 48-ball knock, giving the Red Force great impetus at the backend after half-centuries from in-form opener Kjorn Ottley and the experienced Darren Bravo.

Ottley, fresh off a career-best 134 not out in the last game, struck 52, while Bravo made 51.

Bowling for Harpy Eagles, Romario Shepherd, Sherfane Rutherford and Veerasammy Permaul took two wickets each.

Harpy Eagles were then confronted by a brilliant spell from Cariah, backed up by a tight one from Sunil Narine (2-18) to suffer their first defeat of the tournament.

Sherfane Rutherford topscored with 30, Tevin Imlach made 26, Shimron Hetmyer 24, Chandrapaul Hemraj 21 and Kevin Sinclair 20.

Harpy Eagles’ next game is against points leaders Leeward Islands Hurricanes on Monday from 09:00h at Queen’s Park Oval.
