President Dr. Irfaan Ali journeyed to Region Six on Christmas morning to join residents who were celebrating with a single mother and her six children.

The family will spend Christmas in their new home, constructed by the President’s ‘Men on Mission’ foundation and furnished by like-minded members of the business community.

President Ali, in a ceremonial gesture, handed over the house to the single mother at Belvedere, Corentyne Berbice.

He reminded that the project was complete and sealed with a commitment from the woman that she would find gainful employment and ensure that her children stay in school.

“The children must be in school. Education has the power to change the circumstances of families,” Dr. Ali said.

He was joined by Minister of Housing Collin Croal, Minister of Finance Dr. Ashni Singh, and Chief of Staff of the Guyana Defence Force, Brigadier Omar Khan.

The house the family previously occupied.

Men on Mission has been building houses for vulnerable citizens all across the country. But Dr. Ali said more social support for communities and schools is in the pipeline for 2024.

Caught my eye- single mother with 6 children ?
Where is daddy ? Or daddies ?
Please, the Ministry of Health should provide BIRTH CONTROL pills to this mother.
Or, Condoms, if she should not want any more children.
    Merry Christmas to all.
