North Ruimveldt man wanted for attempted murder of Safraz Khan

The Guyana Police Force has issued a wanted bulletin for a man allegedly involved in the shooting incident of Safraz Khan in front his Austin Street, Campbellville, Georgetown home on July 6, 2023, at around 20:07 hrs.

Wanted is Lennin Messiah of Lot 3667 North Ruimveldt, Georgetown.

According to the Police, a lone gunman, dressed in a yellow raincoat, pounced on Khan as he arrived home and it was reported that the attacker trailed the businessman from his worksite at Eccles, East Bank Demerara.

Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum previously told the News Room that investigators from the Forensic Video Analysis Unit were working to enhance the image of the suspect from available CCTV footage in order to “properly” identify him.

Police Headquarters disclosed that several loud explosions, suspected to be gunshots, were heard, and upon looking outside, persons observed the victim’s car, PVV 8859, parked in front of the yard. They saw Khan was seated in the driver’s seat bleeding from wounds on his feet and hands.

Khan had said that a silver-colour Allion car was driving behind him and as he turned into his entrance and stopped, the car also stopped, and the suspect immediately exited the front passenger seat with a gun and approached his vehicle.

The businessman, who was armed with his licensed pistol, said he discharged rounds in the suspect’s direction. The suspect also discharged rounds at the victim.

Detectives processed the scene, and 27 .223 spent shells were recovered at the scene, and 13 9mm spent shells were recovered in Khan’s car.
