David McDonald, the labourer who was arrested at the Eugene F. Correia International Airport for possession of 84 grams of cannabis, was on Friday fined $75,000.
Failure to pay to fine will result in six months imprisonment.
McDonald appeared before Rushell Liverpool at the Sparandaam Magistrate’s Court where he pleaded guilty to the charge of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
Twenty-three-year-old McDonald of Old Kara Kara, McKenzie, Linden was on Monday nabbed at the airport by ranks of the Customs Anti Narcotic Unit (CANU).
At the time, he was an outgoing passenger, destinedto Aurora, Region Seven.
A search was conducted and he was allegedly found in possession of a transparent parcel containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.
