Weeks after Ricardo John, a laborer of 42 La Belle Alliance, Essequibo Coast, Region Two was fatally wounded by his ex-girlfriend’s partner, the suspect has been charged.
Elroy Matthias called ‘Chiney Boy’, a 20-year-old Labourer of Supenaam, Essequibo Coast, was charged with the murder of John which occurred on January 07, 2024, at Lima Sands, Essequibo Coast.
The case was heard at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Esther Sam.
Bail was refused, and the accused was remanded to prison.
The case was adjourned for January 24, 2024 at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court.
According to reports, John was at a shop imbibing when the woman’s reputed husband approached him.
An argument ensued between the two men. At the time, the suspect was armed with a cutlass. He took the cutlass and chopped John to his upper body and escaped.
John was picked up and rushed to the Suddie Public Hospital and later succumbed to his injuries.
Police are currently searching for the suspect.
