Draw for Guyana against El Salvador in Concacaf U-20 Qualifiers

Guyana and El Salvador played to a 2-2 draw on Sunday in Group B of the Concacaf Men’s Under-20 Qualifiers at the Antigua and Barbuda Technical Centre in Piggots.
The Guyanese took an early lead when Nathaniel Pydana scored in the 10th minute, before Kiano Casamalhuapa equalised 12 minutes later.
The teams headed to the half-time break with a 1-1 scoreline and upon resumption, Wilber Diaz put the Cuscatlecos ahead with a 62nd minute goal.
With the clock ticking, Guyana seemed to be heading to a second straight defeat, but Pydana drew his country level with an 83rd minute strike.
The draw follows Guyana’s opening 4-0 defeat to hosts Antigua and Barbuda on February 23.
In the other Group B game on Sunday, Suriname prevailed 3-2 over Antigua and Barbuda in a thriller.

Group B games continue on Tuesday (February 27) with Guyana playing Suriname from 10:30h and Antigua and Barbuda up against the Turks and Caicos Islands from 15:00h.
Following the round-robin stage, the Junior Golden Jaguars must clinch the top spot in Group B to advance to the 2024 Concacaf Men’s U-20 Championship, where they will join the six pre-seeded top-ranked nations.
The tournament features 27 Under-20 national teams vying for supremacy between February 23 to March 2.
