Guyana ended the Concacaf Men’s Under-20 Qualifiers with a 2-1 victory over the Turks and Caicos Islands on Thursday at the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association’s Technical Centre.

It was Guyana’s first win in Group B of the qualifiers, after a 4-1 loss to Suriname, an opening 4-0 defeat against Antigua and Barbuda and a subsequent 2-2 draw with El Salvador.

Ezekial Rowland was the star for Guyana, scoring both goals for the boys in yellow. He netted in the 32nd and 55th minutes to give Guyana a 2-0 lead, before Emmanuel Martin pulled one back for the Turks and Caicos Islands in the 90th minute.

Guyana finished fourth on the five-team table on four points, the same as third placed El Salvador, who have two matches remaining.

Antigua and Barbuda (three games) and Suriname (two games) are locked on six points each at the top of the table, with the Turks and Caicos Islands bottom of the table without a point after three matches.

Following the round-robin stage, the top team in Group B will advance to the 2024 Concacaf Men’s U-20 Championship, where they will join the six pre-seeded top-ranked nations.

The tournament features 27 national teams vying for supremacy between February 23 to March 2.
