Three men on Wednesday appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court charged with the murder of 41-year-old Lisong Yang, a Chinese national who was killed during a robbery on March 14, 2024, at Eteringbang Landing, Cuyuni River.

    Dead: Lisong Yang

Police Headquarters reported that Darvy Diaz De Costa and Oscar Alcides Scanio – two Venezuelan nationals – along with Pharrell Prince Adelph of Crane Housing Scheme, West Coast Demerara, appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty to answer the charge of murder in the course or furtherance of a robbery.

They were not required to plea to the charge and were all remanded to prison. The matter was transferred to the Kamarang Magistrate’s Court with the next court date set for April 2, 2024.

Yang was killed while his wife, Wen Shuping was wounded during the incident at their Eteringbang Landing supermarket along the Cuyuni River.

A post-mortem examination revealed that Yang died as a result of an incised wound to his neck. He also suffered blunt trauma to his head.

The bandits carted off with a quantity of raw gold during the crime. They also had intentions to kill Shuping but she was spared after pleading for her life.
