Father, son charged for possession of cocaine

Days after they were arrested, a man and his son were on Friday charged after being found with almost 12 lbs of cocaine at Providence Public Road, East Bank Demerara.

Adrian Carew, 55, of Rainbow City, Wismar, Linden and Cavel Carew, 27, of Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden appeared before Magistrate Sunil Scarce at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court.

They both pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The parcels of cocaine discovered by CANU

While Cavel was placed on $600,000 bail, Adrian was remanded to prison.

Cavel is required to report to the Customs Anti Narcotic Unit (CANU) headquarters every month.

The two men were arrested after CANU ranks intercepted a canter during an operation and discovered the cocaine.

The brick-like parcels were found concealed in a box. It amounted to 11.204 kilograms.
