The Guyana Police Force on Monday said Azeez Gulab, the young man who died in an accident at Wowetta Main Trail, North Rupununi, Region Nine, was speeding when he lost control of the motorcycle.
In a statement on Monday, Police Headquarters said the young man was at Aranaputa Ground imbibing alcohol with friends and watching a football game but he left at about 03:00 hrs.
Police said he was speeding when he lost control of the motorcycle and ‘ran off’ the trail.
Villagers were awaken by the noise and upon checking, Galub’s motionless body was found lying next to the motorcycle.
A doctor subsequently visited the scene and he was pronounced dead.
The police, along with public-spirited citizens took the body to the Lethem Regional Hospital Mortuary where an autopsy will be conducted.
