Three teens charged, remanded over fatal stabbing of Patentia boy

Three teenagers were on Wednesday remanded to the Juvenile Holding Centre after they were charged with the murder of Aaron Bess, 17, who was beaten and stabbed to death last week.

The Guyana Police Force, in a statement, said the three juveniles appeared at the Wales Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Rhondel Weaver. They were remanded until April 30.

On March 20, at Patentia, West Bank Demerara, Bess, was walking to a nearby shop to make a purchase around 21:30 hrs, when the suspects began to hurl bottles and bricks at him due to an old misunderstanding.

According to the police report, one of them lashed him several times with a piece of steel, while the other stabbed him multiple times about the body.

Bess collapsed and the teen suspects fled on foot. Bess was taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital by public-spirited persons where he was pronounced dead.

The police found stab wounds to his left upper chest, left lower stomach area and right side neck (jugular vein).

Police initially reported that a 17-year-old suspect was apprehended in connection with the matter.
