The body of Ramdeo Samlall, called Monk, a 49-year-old fisherman of Cotton Tree, West Coast Berbice, was found at the Belladrum foreshore on Wednesday.

Samlall and another man, Barat Bissoondial, were missing for days after they went out to sea. Police Headquarters reported that an unknown caller engaged the Weldaad Police Station at about 11:20 hrs Wednesday after he saw a body at Belladrum, also located at West Coast Berbice.

Barat Bissoondial and another man called “Monty” are missing at sea.

Police Officers then went to the scene and found the decomposed body of a man; the body was clad in a red T-shirt and short pants but no footwear.

Because of the advanced state of decomposition, no marks of violence could have been detected about the man’s body. The body was then taken to Bailey’s Funeral Parlor for identification and an autopsy.

By 15:10 hrs, Hardial Samlall, a 74-year-old pensioner, went to the parlour and positively identified the body. It was Ramdeo, her brother, who was missing since April 12.

The News Room reported earlier Wednesday that the wrecked boat and the engine were already found.

Police said investigations into the matter are ongoing.
