Two men died on Friday night and another was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash along the Williamsburg Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice.
Vekash Tulsi, 21, of South First Street Letter Kenny and Rondy Emmanuel, 22, a labourer Williamsburg, succumbed to their injuries following the accident. Meanwhile, pillion rider Veeram Seecharran, 17, also of Williamsburg, is receiving treatment for a fractured skull.
According to Police headquarters, the accident occurred at about 20:30 hrs. Tulsi was riding his motorcycle #CM 2969 and Emmanuel was riding motorcycle #CM 50, on which Seecharran was the pillion rider.
Initial investigations revealed that Tulsi was speeding, headed west along the southern drive lane of the road while Emmanuel was also speeding but headed east along the northern drive, when Emmanuel allegedly lost control of his motorcycle.
This caused him to end up in the path of motorcycle # CM 2969.
As a result, both motorcycles collided head-on, causing the motorcyclists and the pillion rider to fall onto the road.
They were all picked up in an unconscious condition and taken to Port Mourant Public Hospital. Tulsi was pronounced dead while, Emmanuel succumbed while receiving medical attention.
Seecharran was treated for a fractured skull and transferred to New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where he was further seen and examined and immediately admitted as a patient. His condition is regarded as critical.
Police investigations are ongoing.
