Police Officer still under arrest after altercation with Linden businessman

A Police Officer who was involved in an altercation with a Linden businessman remains under arrest and legal advice is being sought from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

On Sunday, Police Headquarters reported that a Linden, Region 10 businessman allegedly assaulted a Police Officer at the Mackenzie Police Station earlier that morning. Because of that, Police said other ranks came to the Officer’s aid.

A video of the incident showed several ranks involved in the altercation with the businessman.

In another update Tuesday, Police Headquarters said the Guyana Police Force of Professional Responsibility completed its investigation into the alleged assault and one of the Officers involved is under arrest.

The file has now been sent to the DPP for legal advice.
