A Linden, Region 10, businessman allegedly assaulted a Police Officer early Sunday morning and the matter is being investigated.
Police Headquarters reported that several officers visited the Tropical Reflections Bar located at Mackenzie, Linden, around 07:00 hrs Sunday. The ranks told the DJ to shut off the music but he reportedly refused to do so.
As such, the man was areested and taken to the Mackenzie Police Station.
Sometime after, the proprietor of the business visited the station to make inquiries about the DJ. The businessman allegedly behaved in a disorderly manner and was asked to leave the station.
It is alleged that while leaving the station, the businessman assaulted one of the officers causing other ranks to come to his (the officer’s) aid. The businessman was then arrested.
Police said both the DJ and the businessman were later released on recognizance and told to return to the station at 09:00 hrs Monday.
The matter is also engaging the Guyana Police Force’s Office of Professional Responsibility as investigations continue.
