Crews from the Regional Assistance Team West (RBTW) in Suriname arrested 47-year-old Sasenarine Sankar at a tire shop in the Nickerie district on Wednesday.
Sankar of the #69 Village, Corentyne, Region Six (East Berbice- Corentyne) was placed on the wanted list in Guyana back in June 2023 after he attempted to murder his ex-partner, Sandy Persaud.
At the request of the Guyanese police, Sankar was arrested after intensive cooperation between the Surinamese and Guyanese authorities.
The suspect is expected to be handed over to Guyanese authorities.
Sankar, also known as ‘Barber’ and ‘Wire’, allegedly committed the crime on April 5, 2023, at the #55 Village, Corentyne.
Back in 2023, Persaud told the News Room that she ended the relationship with Sankar after he chopped her several times causing her to be hospitalised.
