Three medical students were robbed on Wednesday around 23:20 hrs at First Street, U.G Road, Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara.
The trio who occupy the same apartment were reportedly robbed by two identifiable male suspects on a motorcycle.
Those robbed were 23-year-old Mahendra Maheldajam; he was robbed of one silver ring valued at $20,000. The second victim, 23-year-old Deepatie Rejeergopaul, was robbed of one silver chain valued at $60,000 and 25-year-old Laveanya Ravi was also robbed of one silver chain valued at $25,000
Police said the three students were walking along the street heading home when the two suspects approached on a motorcycle.
The pillion rider dismounted, placed his right hand on the waist of his pants, and told the victims to hand over their belongings and they complied.
The suspects then escaped on the motorcycle in a western direction.
The matter was subsequently reported to the police who visited the area.
Investigations are ongoing.
