The National Championship returns June 16

The Guyana Cycling Federation (GCF) National Championship will occur from June 16th to June 30th, with events spread across three dates – June 16th, 23rd, and 30th.

The peloton gets rolling on June 16th with time trials on the Heroes Highway circuit. Racers will face off in various categories: Masters, Juniors, Women, and Juveniles will tackle a single lap (14.5 km/9 miles), while the Elite competitors will push themselves further with a double lap (29 km/18 miles) test.

The action heats up on June 23rd with the Masters and Juniors Road Race.

Riders will embark on a challenging 100 km (62 miles) journey, starting at the Soesdyke junction and climbing the Linden/Soesdyke Highway to Silver Hill before returning for the finish.

Women and Juveniles will share the starting point for their road race on June 23rd, but with a slightly shorter route. They’ll race 51.5 km (32 miles) out and back, turning around at the highway toll station.

The championship concludes on June 30th with the prestigious Elite Cycling Championship.

This grueling race will see cyclists conquer a 157 km (98 miles) course.

The route takes them on a five-lap circuit starting at the KD&J Supermarket, weaving through town, and venturing out onto the Soesdyke/Linden Highway before returning for a finish.

Last year, We Stand United Cyclist Briton John won the national title.
