Working People’s Alliance (WPA) activist Kidackie Amsterdam was Tuesday arrested following threats made on his show to behead President Dr. Irfaan Ali and three government ministers.

In a statement, the Guyana Police Force said Amsterdam was arrested after he allegedly incited the murder of President Ali and other officials.

The Police Force noted that ranks from the Criminal Investigations Department contacted Amsterdam at his recording studio at Annandale, East Coast of Demerara on Tuesday. The man was told of the allegations levelled against him and arrested.

He is accused of using a computer system to transmit words spoken by video that encourages or incites any person to commit the offence of murder against the President and members of government; and, using a computer system to disseminate information knowing the same to be false.

In a video released by the Police, Amsterdam was engaging a male caller on his show who said President Ali, Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, Attorney General Anil Nandlall and Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh should be beheaded. The caller also described the officials as “monsters” and spoke about where their heads should be placed.

When asked if efforts are being made to identify the caller, Director of the Guyana Police Force’s Corporate Communications Department, Mark Ramotar said “investigations continue.”

Meanwhile, the offences committed by Amsterdam were also allegedly committed against a businessman and others.

Police said these matters are being treated very seriously.

I read where Guyana farmers produces lots of peanuts, that’s great.

Now, there may be many more NUTS on the loose spewing threats.

The GPF, hopefully will round up (corral) all these loose NUTS in our midst, and put them away for life.
