The Guyana Defence Force Football Club (GDF FC), is ready to represent Guyana at the ongoing Caribbean Football Union Club Shield tournament.

The 20-team tournament features defending champions SV Robinhood from Suriname, with two spots in the Concacaf Caribbean Cup up for grabs.

The GDF FC, currently leading the Elite League, will face off against Grenades FC (Antigua & Barbuda) in their opening match on July 26th at the Regnaal Jean Francisca stadium from 17:30h.

Guyana Football Federation (GFF) President Wayne Forde is confident in the team’s ability to compete against the region’s top clubs. “We have a formidable squad representing Guyana,” Forde stated. “I’m confident GDF FC will deliver strong performances.”

Head Coach Joseph Wilson emphasised the team’s rigorous preparation for the tough competition. “We’ve trained intensely to face the top teams in the region,” Wilson said.

The CFU Club Shield, established in 2018, aims to elevate professional football across the Caribbean. The tournament invites champions from semi-professional and amateur leagues to compete.
