Ghantaj Bhasmat, a 61-year-old businessman of Adventure on the Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon- Supenaam), was allegedly murdered early Monday morning during a robbery.
Police Headquarters reported that the man’s wife, Durpattie Ragobar told investigators that they were awakened by a noise outside their room.
Ragbar reportedly stayed in bed while Bhasmat went into the hallway. The woman recalled hearing about four gunshots and someone shouting “thief.”
The woman then went outside to the bathroom area, where she saw her husband lying in a pool of blood with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his chest.
The man was rushed to the Suddie Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
When Police arrived sometime after, the scene was processed.
It is suspected that the man was shot from outside through a louver window connected to the washroom by the gunman/men who failed to gain entry into the couple’s home.
An investigation is ongoing.
