Jamal Rollox, a 37-year-old miner from Campbellville, Georgetown, was arrested on Sunday after being caught with an unlicensed Glock 40 pistol and 10 live rounds of 9MM ammunition.
Police Headquarters reported that ranks were monitoring the wake of the late Lawrence Wayne at the Dynasty Bar on Aubrey Barker Road, Georgetown at about 01:25 hrs Sunday.
At that time, several ranks saw Rollox with the firearm. He reportedly discharged several rounds of ammunition in the air.
Rollox reportedly threw the firearm under a parked car after he saw the ranks. The Police Officers retrieved the firearm and arrested Rollox.
When asked if he was a licensed firearm holder, Rollox responded negatively. As such, he told of the offense committed and arrested.
He was later taken to the East La Penitence Police Station, where the firearm and ammunition were marked in his presence, placed into a gun evidence box and transparent evidence bag, respectively, sealed and lodged to be taken to the ballistics section for analysis.
Rollox remains in Police custody and is slated to be charged.
