A 46-year-old miner from Bachelor’s Adventure, East Coast Demerara was granted $100,000 bail after he appeared at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court to answer to charges for the possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
Mark Ramdass appeared before Magistrate Teriq Mohamed and pleaded not guilty to both charges. He was placed on $50,000 bail for each charge. The matter was adjourned to October 28, 2024 for disclosure.
Ramdass was arrested following a drug bust at his camp in Oku Backdam early Sunday morning.
At approximately 02:00 hrs, police said officers from Regional Division #7 arrived at the location and found Ramdass asleep in his bed.
Upon waking him, the police searched the premises.
They uncovered narcotics weighing 5.4 grammes of cocaine and 38.7 grammes of marijuana.
