A three-year-old boy, Amanie Abrahams, tragically perished in a house fire at Cooper Street, Albouystown in the wee hours of Monday.
Police Headquarters reported that the toddler was left home alone with his two other siblings, ages 4 and 11.
Their mother, Tandica Bailey, a 28-year-old clothes vendor left the children alone at about 07:00hrs on Sunday night to work on Regent Street.
At about 01:36hrs Monday morning, when she was about to head home, she was informed that her house was on fire.
Police said the woman rushed home and only saw the four-year-old and 11-year-old who told her that after the fire started, they ran out of the house, leaving the three-year-old behind.
The Fire Service personnel and EMTs were summoned to the scene and the fire was extinguished. The remains of the three-year-old were found in the bedroom area, burnt beyond recognition.
Investigations are ongoing.
