In a disturbing development, a senior sports official in Region Six is facing accusations of sexual assault on a 20-year-old female for a period of two years.
The alleged victim, who worked as a temporary staff within the official’s office, recounted her harrowing experience during a recent interview with reporters, alleging that the abuses commenced in 2022.
Over the course of their troubling relationship, the victim said feelings of fear and apprehension prevented her from disclosing the incidents to her family.
She said her decision to finally come forward is because she could no longer endure the treatment meted out to her.
“I didn’t tell anybody because I was scared he would threaten me more,” the woman said.
She described troubling instances where the accused would visit her home during her absences from work, ostensibly to coerce her into returning.
The final assault reportedly occurred in November 2024.
“I want his family to know and other people, and him in jail,” the woman said.
Her mother, upon confronting the official about the allegations, claims he admitted to the accusations.
“He was threatening her for two years. Tell her that because of his name, nobody was believe her until it was unbearable for her to come forward and tell me,” the mother related.
She said her daughter was taken to the hospital for a medical check during which it was confirmed that she was sexually active.
The distraught mother has taken the necessary steps to report the matter to law enforcement.
When contacted, Region Six Commander Shivpersaud Bacchus informed the News Room that police are investigating the allegations against the sports official.
