The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) has announced that Kemol Savory will captain the Guyana Harpy Eagles in the first round of the 2025 West Indies Four-Day Championship, which will be played against Barbados Pride at the National Stadium, Providence, from January 29.
Savory will have Matthew Nandu as his deputy, while all-rounders Junior Sinclair and Thaddeus Lovell have earned their maiden selection to the squad.
Antony Adams and Richie Looknauth have been recalled in the absence of senior players on West Indies duty.
Skipper Tevin Imlach, Kevin Sinclair, and Gudakesh Motie are in Pakistan, while Shamar Joseph is still injured.
The players in Pakistan should be available for the second round of matches from February 5.
Shimron Hetmyer, Keemo Paul, Romario Shepherd, and Sherfane Rutherford are currently engaged in T20 franchise cricket.
A notable omission is contracted player Ashmead Nedd. However, the GCB did not give an official reason for the left-arm spinner’s absence.
The GCB announced the squad on Monday evening after management conducted a fitness test at the National Track and Field Facility on Monday morning.
The squad is expected to train at the National Stadium, Providence, starting Tuesday.
