Ram Singh, a 19-year-old construction worker, has been sentenced to four years and six months imprisonment after pleading guilty to break and enter and larceny.
The incident occurred on January 18, 2025, at the residence of Asad Ayube, where Singh allegedly stole a Movado watch valued at US$1,000 and cash amounting to G$2.5 million.
Singh of Little Diamond, East Bank Demerara, made his appearance at the Diamond/Grove Magistrate’s Court before Principal Magistrate Dylon Bess on Wednesday.
He was not required to enter a plea at that time but later pleaded guilty under the Administration of Justice Act. Police reported that Singh was arrested on January 20, 2024.
