Pedestrian dies after struck down by speeding driver
Leslyn Cupidore, a 38-year-old pedestrian died during an early morning accident on Tuesday along the Providence Public Road, East Bank Demerara.
According to a release from Police Headquarters, Cupidore was struck down by a 33-year-old speeding driver from North Sophia, Greater Georgetown. Cupidore, of Providence, was crossing the road from east to west when the motorcar collided with her.
As a result of the impact she fell onto the roadway where she received injuries to her head and about her body.
She was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was taken to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
A breathalyzer test was conducted on the driver which showed readings of .04 and .08 micrograms which are below the prescribed limit of 35 micrograms.
CCTV cameras were observed and will be processed. The driver remains in custody as investigations continue.
