Both semi-final games of the Guyana Football Federation’s Super 16 Cup went the distance on Monday night with penalty kicks deciding the teams for the January 1, 2026, championship game.

Slingerz FC and Western Tigers remain in the hunt for the title following hard-fight victories over Police and Guyana Defence Force (GDF) respectively at the National Training Centre, Providence.

In the first semi-final, Western Tigers emerged with a 5-4 win on penalties against GDF after both teams were locked 1-1 at the end of regulation and extra times.

A 19th minute strike from Ian Dooker sent GDF ahead, before Kevon Woodley drew the game level with a goal in the 32nd minute.

Semi-final two saw Police taking the advantage just before half-time when Ryan Hackett netted in the 45th minute.

It took a 70th minute strike from Kemar Beckford to even out the contest for Slingerz FC; a 1-1 scoreline which remained to the end of regulation and extra times.

Slingerz won 3-1 on penalties.

The January 1 final between Slingerz FC and Western Tigers will kick off at 21:00h, while the third place playoff between GDF and Police will commence at 18:30h at the National Training Centre.
