WOMEN’S T20 BLAZE: Jairam, Ramnath dismantle Guyana for 57 as Trinidad coast to victory
Trinidad and Tobago’s spin battery produced a clinical exhibition in Round Four of the Women’s T20 Blaze, bundling defending champions Guyana for a meagre 57 to set up a dominant eight-wicket win in St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Monday.
Opting to bowl first at the Arnos Vale Stadium, Trinidad’s slow bowlers exploited the surface as leg-spinner Shriya Jairam was the architect of the collapse, ripping through the middle order to finish with 4-11 from four overs.

She was well-supported by the off-spin duo of Samara Ramnath (3-10) and the veteran Anisa Mohammed (2-8).
Guyana’s batters struggled for rhythm throughout the 17 overs of their innings, with West Indies international Realeanna Grimmond’s 14 being the highest individual score.
The Williams sisters, Latoya and Laurene, were the only others to reach double figures, scoring ten each.
The chase began with a flicker of drama as Shenta Grimmond and Plaffianna Millington struck in the first two overs to remove both Trinidadian openers, leaving the score at a precarious 2 for 2.
However, with a target of just 58, there was no substantial scoreboard pressure to force further errors.
The experienced Britney Cooper (29* off 36) and Djenaba Joseph (27* off 37) showed great maturity, stitching together an unbeaten 56-run stand. They relied on sensible strike rotation and the occasional boundary to cruise home with 6.4 overs to spare.
Guyana now faces a must-win encounter against Barbados on January 21 to stand any chance of reaching the final.
Should they fail to secure a victory, the defending champions will be officially eliminated from final contention.
The T20 Blaze concludes on January 23, before the teams transition to the CG United Super50 Cup, which begins on January 27.
