The three men along with the brother of Jaikarran Chandradai aka Kevin, 12-year-old Alvin left to go on a fishing trip at approximately 15:00 hrs on Thursday and were expected home on Friday morning. However, the 12-year-old was left behind at a camp to await his relatives’ return. According to the Guyana Police Force, each body bore a single gunshot wound.

During a telephone interview with Commander of ‘B’ Division, Ian Amsterdam, he noted that two guards who were at the Koker where the 12-year-old was awaiting his family, along with a guard who was at a neighbouring camp owned by rice farmer, Sudama Jagmohan aka King are in custody assisting with investigations. The rice farmer was arrested, questioned and released.

Since the tragedy took place, Alvin has been speaking with the Pastor of the Village, Mr. David Seecharran.

News Room spoke with Mr. Seecharran who related that the boy told him of the two guards who were with him at the Koker, and in whose company he spent the remainder of the night.

According to him, the lad said he heard the first two gunshots at approximately 22:00 hrs, after which he overheard the guards saying “like dem bai shoot dem man bai”.

It is believed that the weapon used at the scene of the crime may have been thrown overboard. The spent shells are yet to be recovered.

Usually reliable sources have informed News Room that the police are working on two theories.

The leading theory is that there may be a wanted-man, for whom a wanted bulletin will be issued soon, hiding out in the back-dam, who upon being seen, shot the two men and teenager out of fear that his identity would have been released. It was disclosed that the wanted man may have been committing robberies on persons who ventured into the back-dam. In addition, he is allegedly wanted for murder.
