The woman who died in a horrific accident on the Caledonia Public Road on the East Bank of Demerara was heavily pregnant.
Dead is Olisa Valcin and her husband, Nicholas Valcin. They were involved in a head-on collision with a canter truck Thursday afternoon.
Family and friends have taken to social media to mourn the young couple’s sudden deaths. The News Room understands the couple also have other children.
Olisa was a secondary school teacher at the Wisburg Secondary School in Linden; she also served as the STEM Guyana leader for the Wisburg Learning Pod Club. The News Room understands that she was also a Scout leader.
“STEM Guyana and the Department of Youth would like to extend sincere condolences to the family and friends of our Wisburg Learning Pod club leader Ms. Olisa Sanderson Valcin and her husband Nicholas Valcin, who died in a horrific accident earlier this afternoon,” STEM Guyana wrote in a facebook post.
Hours after the accident, the Guyana Police Force is yet to release any details.
