CARIFTA GAMES: Anisha Gibbons lands Guyana’s second gold

Anisha Gibbons won Guyana’s second gold medal at the ongoing Carifta Games in Kingston, Jamaica.

Competing in the Girls’ 17-19 javelin event, she had a best throw of 42.54m to beat Barbadians Vivica Addison (41.92m) and Vanessa Greaves (41.17m) for the top podium spot.

Gibbons, who also won gold in 2019, adds to Attoya Harvey, who copped gold for Guyana in the Under-20 1500m on Saturday.

Narissa McPherson and Javon Roberts were the other Guyanese on the podium on the opening day, both securing silver medals. Notably, all three athletes ran Personal Best times.
