Amernauth Chand was today arrested for the murder of his 24-year-old son Mahesh Chand.
It is alleged that at around 23:30hrs on Wednesday, the suspect had requested to borrow some money from his wife who refused his request. According to reports, Amernauth was requesting $200 from his wife to buy Marijuana
The refusal allegedly upset the man which led to a heated argument.
The victim, their son, who was present intervened and during the altercation. Enquiries disclosed that his father armed himself with a cutlass and inflicted a wound to the upper chest of the victim, who ran but subsequently collapsed.
The father subsequently fled the scene but had has since been apprehended and taken into custody.
Mahesh Chand was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
