Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan this morning remanded five teenagers to prison for the murder of retired University Professor Perry Mars.
The News Room is prohibited from mentioning the names of the teenagers, since Guyana is a signatory to the United Nations Rights of the Child Convention.
They were sentenced during an in camera session.
Remanded to prison are an 18 year-old, a 15 year- old, two sixteen year-olds and a 17 year-old.
Among those remanded are two females, one of whom News Room learnt is pregnant.
The murder of the professor took place last Thursday at his Prashad Nagar home and within several hours of his discovery, the police apprehended the six teenagers.
