The Petra Futsal is not just growing in its fan base, but also in corporate backing as NAMILCO became the latest entity to embrace the tournament that has received resounding support by fans.
At the simple press activity on Thursday, Financial Manager of NAMILCO, Fitzroy McLeod, shared the importance of such partnerships and events.
“We have been in the food business for 48 years in Guyana and with our wheat foods and health foods being of the highest quality we believe that all the people we service deserve the same, so we are proud to be partners with Petra for the second consecutive tournament to put on an event that exceeds in quality of previous years,” McLeod noted.
Director of the Petra Organisation, Troy Mendonca, noted that such tournaments promote a better lifestyle in the small communities that are competing. He also used the opportunity to thank NAMILCO for the support.
“Our communities have been plagued by social ills and the Petra Organisation believe we can bridge that gap through sport which will help make life easier, healthier and happier and we are happy that NAMILCO is on board with the Petra Futsal that target grassroot team as aim to put on keen competition,” Mendonca highlighted.
NAMILCO’s sponsorship will cover the second place prize, which is $200,000. Twelve teams still remain in the tournament, which is currently in its final round of group matches and will conclude with the final on April 15.
