A 27-year-old motor cyclist was last night killed in an accident on Better Hope Public Road, East Coast Demerara.
The police force in a statement disclosed that motor car PMM 9206 was proceeding west along the southern carriageway of the road, when it suddenly turned north into the path of motor cycle CG 187. The motor cycle was proceeding in the opposite direction.
The car which was being driven by a 19 year old resident of Montrose, ECD, collided with the motor cycle. As a result, the cyclist, Cleon Perreira, 27 years, of 119 Middle Walk, Buxton, ECD, fell onto the road surface and sustained injuries.
He was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital in an unconscious state where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The driver who was tested and found not to have had any alcohol in his breath, is in custody assisting with the investigation.
