Bandits choke and rob 71-year-old woman

Two masked men invaded the home of a 71-year-old woman between 02:00hrs to 04:00hrs on Wednesday and escaped with items amounting to more than $6.1M.

News Room was told that the men entered Joy Proctor’s home at3202 Rosa Drive South Ruimveldt, Georgetown by removing several louvres from a southern window.

It was reported that the woman, who occupies the upper flat of a two-storey wooden and concrete structure, secured her home at approximately 21:00hrs and retired to bed. However, she was awakened at about 02:30hrs and confronted by the suspects who choked her and demanded money and jewellery.

The men then reportedly placed a pillow over the victim’s head as they began ransacking the house and removing valuables.

The men escaped with one silver-grey Dualisbearing registration numbers PWW2862 and valued $5M, one Sony flat screen television set valued at $112,000, one laptop valued at $120,000, three tablets valued $200,000, one Samsung note 5 phone valued at $150,000, one Samsung s5 phone valued at $65,000, a quantity of gold jewellery valued at $500,000 and $22,000 in cash.

Police are investigating.
