Security Guard robbed in Leopold St.
Police are investigating the alleged armed robbery committed on 35-year-old Wendel Maynard, a Security Guard of South Ruimveldt, Georgetown, which occurred at about 09:30hrs today in Leopold Street, Georgetown.
According to a police statement, investigations revealed that the victim was about to escort cash from a business location when he was pounced on by three armed men, who gun-butted him and demanded the cash.
The police noted that a licensed firearm holder discharged a round at the suspects, after which the armed men fired several shots and escaped with the cash on motorcycles.
Police did not reveal how much money was allegedly stolen.
