Ansa McAl Trading, through its Carib Beer brand, has pulled the plug on the recently launched East Coast Cricket Committee T20 competition.

The proposed 18-team tournament for clubs on the East Coast corridor was launched on May 1 at the Enmore Community Centre Cricket Club, but on Friday afternoon news surfaced that the exclusive sponsor had withdrawn its support for the event.

Contacted by News Room, a senior official of Ansa McAl Trading confirmed that the company had indeed cut ties with the organisers. However, he did not offer a reason for the move.

The official added that the company remains committed to the development of sport.
