The New Era organised Futsal tournament will have its fifth instalment in the mining town of Linden when action kicks-off on July 27 at the McKenzie Sports Club tarmac.

Over 20 teams, including some from Georgetown and West Demerara, are expected to journey to Linden for the annual tournament, which has once again gathered the support of main sponsor Mohamed’s Enterprise and now ExxonMobil.

At the launch on Friday, Managing Director of Mohamed’s Enterprise, Nazar Mohamed, spoke of his delight with the success of the tournament over the years and also spoke of a commitment to aid in the rehabilitation of the tarmac.

The tournament is expected to last for four weeks and Director of New Era Entertainment, Bobby Nelson, said he expects clean and exciting fun.

“For the next four weeks we will witness the excitement football generates. There will be near misses and classic finishes, but unlike 2017 where the finals were hampered by bad weather, fixture clashed and other factors, we are optimistic that when this year’s final conclude we are confident the most prepared team will win,” Noel stated.

Representative of the Guyana Football Federation, Rawle Adams, confirmed the federation’s commitment to supporting football.

In addition to the two main sponsors, ANSA McAL Trading, under its Stag Beer brand, Cell Smart and Burger King have also come out in support.

The playing dates are July 27, 28, August 3, 4, 10, 11 and 18. The first place prize is $600,000, while second to fourth would receive $250,000, $100,000 and $75,000 respectively.
