“It’s Christmas and the greatest gift of all is freedom,” were the words of Attorney-at-law Paul Fung-A-Fat as he pleaded for his client to be released on bail for the offence of trafficking 88 grams of cannabis.

Jermain Charles, 27, of Rose Mary Lane, Tiger Bay, appeared before Senior Magistrate, Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court Monday, where he pleaded the offence to the charge.

It is alleged that Charles, a cook by profession, had the illegal substance in his possession for the purpose of trafficking on December 8, 2018.

Despite the pleas of Attorney Fung-A-Fat for Charles to spend the holidays at home with his family, the Magistrate remanded him to prison until January 21, 2019.

Police Prosecutor, Arwin Moore objected to bail and noted that Charles was arrested during a police raid in the community.

The drugs were found hidden in the oven of Charles’ stove, the Prosecutor said.
