NSC completes training room for coaches and organisers

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has completed refurbishing works on a building in its compound, which would now be used as a training centre for coaches and organisers.

Director of Sports Christopher Jones on Friday gave media operatives a tour of the facility, which was transformed from a store room to a habitable space to the tune of G$12 million.

“Essentially, the space was a store room; dumping ground so to speak. The entire roof and walls were all caving in, so we did the refurbishing to the space,” Jones said.

“This is now going to cater for the coaches and the organisers- this is going to be their training room as well as their office space.”

The Director indicated that a huge flat screen television will be mounted indoor to aid training, while the facility would be internet ready shortly.

“From time to time, if the need arises, we will lend the space to other associations and federations,” Jones shared.

Technical Development Officer of the NSC, Seon Erskine, has also been allocated an office in the building.

“He essentially vets all of the work programmes for the various coaches and organisers, and ensures they are executed well within a certain timeframe,” Jones divulged.
