AFC member David Patterson was Saturday afternoon elected as General Secretary of the Alliance For Change (AFC) during the Party’s National Conference and Elections being held at the St Paul’s Retreat Centre at Vryheid’s Lust, East Coast Demerara.

The News Room was reliably informed that Patterson secured 155 votes out of 274 votes. The former General Secretary Marlon Williams declined the nomination and Patterson went up against Michael Carrington, Beverly Alert and Leonard Craig.

Earlier, Cathy Hughes secured a landslide victory as the Party’s Vice Chair, while delegates elected Khemraj Ramjattan as Leader of the Party while Raphael Trotman was elected as the Chairman unopposed.

Delegates are now voting for new members of the Executive followed by the consideration of several motions, chief of which is one endorsing Khemraj Ramjattan as the next Prime Ministerial Candidate.
