Berbice Police are investigating the mysterious death of a 12-year-old girl who was found in an unconscious state while playing in a relative’s hammock on Monday.
Dead is Ayana Haygard of Rotterdam, East Bank Berbice.
The News Room understands that the child was visiting a relative’s home and was in the hammock playing. The hammock had a hole and relatives say it is possible she could have become entangled and was strangled to death.
At around noon, a relative realised the child was unconscious and contacted her parents.
The parents rushed her to the New Amsterdam Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
