A 39-year-old man died on Friday after he was reportedly stabbed multiple times by his brother at their Buzzbee Dam, Craig, East Bank Demerara home.
Dead is Cleveland Hodge who was stabbed when he tried to prevent his mentally unstable brother from harming himself.
Police Headquarters reported that the incident occurred at about 15:10hrs Thursday.
Reports are that Hodge observed his brother with a knife in his possession and approached him to take it away, however, as Hodge got closer, his brother slashed him to the right elbow and then to the left elbow with the knife.
The suspect then stabbed him again to the left shoulder and under the right arm.
Public spirited citizens rushed to Hodge’s assistance and took him to the Diamond Diagnostic Hospital where he was admitted, treated for his injuries and sent away at about 19:00h Thursday.
Subsequently, while at home, Hodge complained of feeling unwell and was again taken to the Diamond Hospital where he was admitted and then transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital. He succumbed to his injuries at about 13:39h Friday.
The suspect was arrested and is presently in custody at the Grove Police Station.
