On June 30, 2020, the Rotary Club of Georgetown installed its new Board of Directors under the leadership of President Clyde de Haas. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the installation ceremony was done via video conferencing platform.

President Clyde de Haas, in his acceptance remarks and in a historic second term as President, thanked the club for placing their trust in him and his team for the new Rotary year.

He also indicated that, as customary, the Board’s plans for the year would be in keeping with the current Rotary International theme: “Rotary Opens Opportunities”.

President Clyde emphasised the need for members to create opportunities that strengthen their leadership, help put service ideas into action and improve the lives of those in need.

He also highlighted that the Club’s service projects would continue to focus on improving the lives of those in need noting that “the COVID-19 pandemic has certainly placed more people in that situation”.

The club will also support Rotary’s new area of focus, which is the ‘Environment’, while continuing its work in the other areas of Disease Prevention and Treatment, Water and Sanitation, Maternal and Child Health, Basic Education and literacy, Peace and Conflict Resolution and Economic and Community Development.

President De Haas concluded the evening’s proceedings with a quote from Mahatma Gandhi: “Be the change that you wish to see in this world.”
