Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo on Monday announced that the 2020 emergency budget is estimated at $330 billion, some 10% more than 2019.
However, he said much of the budget represents money already gone in a ”spending spree” by the last government and also takes into account annual payments.
With the spending already, and other costs, the new PPP government was only left with $22 billion for new initiatives.
It also includes $7 billion for COVID-19 relief.
The budget also includes a $5 billion subvention for the Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo).
