Police are hunting for a man who murdered his 34-year-old spouse, Tara Krishnaran, and her 11-year-old daughter at Princess Street, Lodge, Georgetown, using a knife and a hammer.
The Police said wounds were discovered to the back of the woman’s head, left side temple and left side of the face; the child had a wound about six inches in length to her neck and what appeared to be blood on her private parts.
The incident occurred between 20:00hrs on December 25, 2020 and 21:00hrs on December 26.
Police said the trio lives with the woman’s father; he told investigators that the couple were involved in an argument at about 17:30hrs on December 25 and a fight ensued.
The man said he went to bed since fights between the couple were a normal occurrence.
The older man said he woke up at about 08:00 h on Boxing Day but did not check on his daughter, thinking that she went to work and took her child as is customary.
However, at about 20:30hrs, the man said he decided to check to his daughter’s room. It was then that he made the gruesome discovery. He saw his daughter lying motionless on a bed and granddaughter on the floor.
Police were called to the scene and a blood-stained hammer and knife were retrieved.
The bodies are currently at the Lyken’s Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem.
Investigations are ongoing.
